The Real Madrid superstar scored four goals at the World Cup, but saw his side eliminated at the hands of Uruguay in the last 16

Cristiano Ronaldo should keep playing for Portugal, despite their early exit from the 2018 World Cup, according to Manchester City star Bernardo Silva.

The Selecao lost 2-1 to Uruguay in the last 16, with Ronaldo successfully nullified by both Diego Godin and Jose Luis Gimenez.

However, the Real Madrid superstar was integral to Portugal’s qualification for the knockout stages, scoring a hat-trick in the 3-3 draw with Spain and also netting in the 1-0 win over Morocco.

Ronaldo is 33, and many have suggested that this may have been his final shot at World Cup glory, though Silva believes he is actually improving with age.

“Ronaldo has had another amazing season,” he told reporters, per the Daily Mail .

“He’s been the highest scorer in the Champions League and won a third Champions League in a row.

“It’s his decision. As a team-mate, I hope so because he helps us so much. He’s a fantastic player. We don’t need to describe him. So hopefully he stays but it’s his decision.

“In this World Cup, he helped us so much, scoring four goals.

“So, yes, it seems like he’s getting better with age. I hope he stays but we’ll see what happens.”

Ronaldo has stayed silent on his future, merely thanking Portugal fans on Instagram.

Lionel Messi has also been eliminated from the competition, with Argentina losing to France in the last 16.
